It has been my experience with my calf problems that massaging something that already hurts is a bad idea. <BR/><BR/>I have had this type of pain as recently as a few days ago. Mine was more of a point on my shin, maybe one inch that hurt. It hurt when I walked but not so much on the run. I just left it alone and did lots of calf raises and stretching and it went away in a few days without time off. <BR/><BR/>Icing it is good though. Make sure you use an ice cup or something like a bag of frozen vegetables that isn't super cold. Those gel ice packs are horrible. I still have numb spots on my shin and the back of my heel from using gel ice without enough insulation between my skin and the cold pack.
